So tonight is my sisters 16th birthday party! and shes chosen a great theme to show that she's growing up without over doing it.
She's decided to have a MOCKTAIL PARTY!
I've been assigned to making the drinks with my friend so we'll be shakin' up martini's and blending up ingredients into a yummy concoction!
I've tried a few of the drinks that we'll be making for my sister and her friends, and I've got to say that my favourite is quite simply, the easiest to make! (handy, huh!)
It's called the Cherry Orange Sunrise :D
All you need is 30ml of Grenadine (basically a red cordial), as much Fanta (or orange soda, which ever you prefer) as it takes to fill the rest of the glass, some ice cubes, and some orange slices (optional).
You just pour the Grenadine into the bottom of the glass, and top with ice.
Then add your Fanta over the top of the ice. (you could also add some lemonade to make the flavour not as strong)
To add some character to your mocktail, you could add an orange slice to the edge of the glass :)
(this recipe was modified from the recipe on this URL, http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/961585/refreshing-summer-mocktails-for-kids , all credit to the author on there, I just changed the units and added an optional step).
There's that quick, easy and inexpensive mocktail that will definitely cool you down, whilst doing it in style :)

Tennis Time
Tennis! My favourite sport in the entire world! :D
It's great to play in summer! Even though it can get quite hot on the courts, its undoubtedly worth it.
There's so much thrill in playing tennis. The adrenaline rush of sprinting for the ball when your opponent hits a slice or a drop shot. The fun of playing with your friends and family, laughing about the game just played. And most of all, the thought that with every play your getting better than you were the shot before.
And with all the Australian tennis action on at the moment, its just so hard to not play it and learn from the professionals. In Australia, summer is THE season for tennis. There's 3 major Tournaments, the Hopman Cup in Perth, the Brisbane International in Brisbane, and the Australian Open in Melbourne. All 3 tournaments are played within the month of January.
If you don't already know the basics of tennis, here a few things to help you get started :)

If you don't already know the basics of tennis, here a few things to help you get started :)
- The 2 most common shots are the forehand and backhand. Where with the forehand you stand with the opposite foot to your racket hand in front. With a backhand, you are on the opposite side to when you use a forehand shot and can either use one of 2 hands, swinging cross body (2 hands is easier for beginners as you get more control).
- The serve is the most important shot of the game. In a simple nutshell, to serve you
- start with your racket in your dominant hand and the ball in your other hand, with the ball on the racket in front of your body.
- swing your racket down past your toes, to where your almost touching them (to call it cutting off your toes)
- then bring your racket behind your back and throw the ball upwards in a relatively straight path (we say this is scratching your back and into the trophy position (as if your the player on the top of a trophy))
- then hit the ball with a slight downwards motion so the ball doesn't fly horizontally across court (:P)
3. When serving you want to hit it into the opposite service box from where your serving from (on the baseline).
Those a few tips to make the game a little easier :)
Hopefully they aren't too confusing :P
But anyway, tennis is a great and fun way to spend the summer outdoors being active, without running 10km or working out in the gym for an hour. :)
Plus, tennis in my opinion is a social sport, because you can have a good conversation whilst still playing the game and having fun :D
Have a great day/night :)

Colour Block
So in the summer time the colours we wear change to the ones we choose to wear in winter.
In Summer I particularly like wearing bold colours of one print. To me it really screams "SUMMER" when bright pinks, oranges, blues and yellows are worn :)
In my opinion, printed dresses and shirts (eg. floral, geometric) are more spring and winter styles, whilst single coloured shirts and dresses are very summery and autumn (autumn has darker colours though rather than bright coloured pieces).
Take this dress for example.
Its very summery and its a nice flowy dress that just looks like summer :)
(i got it from Ally a few years ago)
Anyway, this was a bit of a spontaneous post but hope it wasn't terrible :P
Thanks :)

Water Fight!
Everybody loves water fights right? and what's the best time of the year to have one? That's right!
SUMMER!
Water fights are some of the best memories of summer for me. Especially on Christmas Day when my family comes over and we have a giant water fight and my uncle always manages to be the wettest due to the fact he has everyone against him in these... :P
Don't we all have those memories that we just want to relive?
Well today's the day! Grab some friends or family and have a war! Obviously with water, not actually hurting each other... duh :P
The best kind of water fight for me is using water balloons. It gets everybody involved and builds the suspense and rush to get all your water balloons filled up before the other team does.
What you'll need
- a bunch of water balloons
- a tap with a small enough area to fit the water balloon over. Or if you have one of these you can use that too :D I got mine from Kmart :) (with this, you just place the water balloon over the nozzle and pump the water inside the tank, then hold the trigger button and it will fill up with water)
- and lastly, you'll need some people to throw them at :P
Just fill all the balloons up and throw them at everyone until your all out :D
If you don't have any water balloons, its just as fun when you fill up buckets and dump the water on your friend's and family's head :P or it can be as simple as spraying everyone with the hose to cool down :P
A pretty self explanatory activity but it can be the best fun :D
That's all for now :)
Have fun with your water fights!!
Leave a comment telling me if this was helpful idea for the summer months :)

Hello There!
Welcome to my blog! :)
My blog will be based around the things that may be fun, helpful and interesting to do with the current season. Please keep in mind that I am living in the southern hemisphere so the season I am in may be the complete opposite to what you are in.
A few things about myself :)
1. I am a complete sucker for apples! Random, but just something I like :)
2. Being a bit crazy is part of my daily schedule... quite a large part actually :P
3. I love when the seasons change because almost everything you were doing 3 months ago is different, and its fascinating to me how everything changes :)
4. My outlook on life is that you should do what makes you happy :)
5. I am quite nerdy in many ways! I love geography and I love to read books about science fiction ideas :) But I also love sport, like tennis and football and soccer! But then I love dressing up and looking nice too :) so many different sides of me :)
Well that's all for my first blog post ever!
Hope that was even remotely normal... :P
